Tonight’s tool from her Healing Toolbox

NLP Movie Theater

A classic NLP “Movie Theater” (Visual-Kinesthetic Dissociation) process for lowering the emotional charge of a traumatic memory by changing size, color, sound, and distance. Krissy’s therapist walked her through it; the full steps are in her appendix.

Step by step

  1. Find a quiet place for 10–15 minutes. Sit comfortably. You’re in control—if it’s too intense, open your eyes and breathe.
  2. Safe Place Anchor: picture a calm place; when calm feels strong, lightly press thumb and middle finger together.
  3. Imagine a movie theater; float to a control booth so you’re watching yourself watch the screen. Play the memory tiny, silent, and black-and-white—from just before until just after you were safe again.
  4. Freeze on a safe frame, rewind super-fast 3 times, drain color, shrink it away, then fill the screen with a bright image of you safe today. Return, breathe, and squeeze your safe anchor. (Full Step 1–8 wording is in the book.)

If you’re struggling right now

You do not have to fix the whole night. Soften your body first. These breath practices are from Krissy’s toolbox (Breathwork).

Physiological Sigh

For instant stress relief: inhale deeply through your nose, sip a second sharp burst at the top, then long slow sigh out the mouth. Repeat 2 or 3 times.

Box Breathing

Inhale 4 · hold 4 · exhale 4 · hold 4. Repeat for 2 to 5 minutes. Open the guided exercise.

4-7-8

Exhale whoosh · inhale 4 · hold 7 · exhale 8. Repeat for 4 cycles.
